As the world begins to change, now is the perfect time to think about booking a Yoga Teacher Training in 2022. Booking an intensive course allows you to immerse yourself in yoga, the philosophy and the practice, over 3- 4 weeks before gaining your certification. Many countries around the world offer yoga teacher trainings, but with so many places to choose from where should you go?

1. Bali

Known for being one of the world’s best yoga destinations, Bali is haven for spiritual seekers and tourists alike. Bali has so much to explore, from picturesque rice fields, waterfalls, endless beaches and rugged coastline. Connect to the stunning Balinese culture by visiting the many temples ceremonies and marvel at the beautiful floral offerings. Or, absorb the welcoming charm and fun loving spirit of the local people by adventuring around the island. On the Island of the Gods, there are many popular areas to visit. Head to the heart of Bali, Ubud, to soak up the cultural and artistic scene; it’s also home to the popular Bali Spirit Festival. Or check out the white-sand beaches and tour the mangrove forests at the spectacular Nusa Lembongan. The island has a reputation for all things wellness, and you’ll find plenty of spas, Balinese healing ceremonies, delicious organic food and meditation retreats. Wherever you go in Bali, you’ll find a zen-like presence and plenty to smile about!

Thailand is the perfect place to travel do a training and offers a complete holiday package. Thailand is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant jungles and its very friendly attitude, it’s not known as the Land of Smiles for nothing! There are Yoga Teacher Trainings across the country, and there are many schools and renowned teachers to train with. Choose from training up in the cool mountains in the North at destinations such as Pai or Chiang Mai. Or dip your feet in the clear shores of an island, underneath palm trees in the South, such as magical Koh Phangan. Known as a destination for those interested in all things health, Thailand has many spas, health food stores and organic restaurants to nourish you from the inside out. Immerse yourself in Thai culture by trying the delicious local cuisine and treat yourself to a Thai massage. In your free time explore the country’s natural wonders, easily island hop, and marvel at its breathtaking temples.

If you time it right, you can be lucky enough to experience the spectacular Thai New Year Festival of Song Kran, which falls in April every year.

Thailand can be visited throughout the year, however you can choose to enjoy the cooler months from October to January. Or, if it is warm weather you are after book a course during the high season months from November to February. A tropical paradise awaits you!

3. Portugal

If the idea of doing an authentic training closer to home with breathtaking scenery, idyllic beaches and glorious sunshine is what you are after, then Portugal is the place to be. As a top European holiday destination, Portugal is home to many spectacular surfing beaches, pristine coastline and historic cities. It is also home to some of the best yoga courses in Europe, you don’t always need to travel far to find the best teachers and the right course for you. Yoga schools and retreat centres are dotted across the country, with many offering options along the chilled out Atlantic coast. Culturally and geographically diverse, Portugal is renowned for its tempting cuisine, travellers with different tastes and dietary requirements are easily catered for. Why not adventure to the buzzing capital of Lisbon, check out plenty of stunning castles and palaces. Or take in the ocean breeze and get lost in the cobbled streets of peaceful Ericeria.

The best time to visit the country is from the spring, in February, right through the summer and until early autumn when the air starts to get a little cooler.

4. Costa Rica

As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, Costa Rica is a paradise of enchanting jungles, beautiful biodiversity and warm weather. The country’s slogan is ‘Pura Vida’, meaning ‘Pure Life’ its no wonder Costa Rica is known as one of the world’s happiest countries. Discover your sense of adventure with cascading waterfalls, abundant wildlife and even a few active volcanos! A home of adventure sports, as well as vibrant yoga scene, Costa Rica offers retreats, trainings and classes across the country to suit everyone. Visit Manuel Antonio for a beach paradise or check out Tortuguero for the turtles! If you’d rather find tranquility and peace, Costa Rica is also the perfect place to do just that. Think of meditating on the beach and relaxing on the sand between lessons.

The perfect time to visit Costa Rica is from December to April, if you are heading to the Pacific coast. If the Caribbean coast is where you want to go, it’s best to arrive there between March and September.

5. India

Why not take a trip to the spiritual birthplace of yoga? India is a vibrant country with a rich history of yoga and has been enchanting travellers for centuries. When you are there visit holy sites, pamper yourself with healing Ayurvedic treatments and sample some of the country’s finest vegetarian food. The choice for trainings are endless, find a local teacher teaching traditional Ashtanga in Mysore, or head down to the golden sands of the coast in Goa or Kerala. If the North is a place you’d like to train at, travel to the base of the Himalayas to the famous Rishikesh or further north to Dharamsala, the home of the Dalai Lama. Yoga Teacher Trainings are abundant in India, and you can enjoy authentic and traditional teachings at many yoga schools across the country.

Depending on where in India you are going, different parts of the vast country will be experiencing different seasons such as summer, winter or monsoon season, so you may need to adjust what to pack! India’s hottest months in the summer run from March to May, so heading to the National parks, or to the mountains may be a better idea. Winter in India runs from November to February and these months are an ideal time to visit the beaches or the desert states, such as Rajasthan. Monsoon season is from June until October, and being such a vast country not everywhere experiences intense rainfall all at once, so its best to research the area you are planning on visiting if it falls within these months.
