Here are our top choices:

1. Vikasa Yoga Retreat

vikasa retreat yoga teacher training

Vikasa means spiritual growth and evolution; two things you will go through while staying at this spectacular retreat located in Koh Samui. One of the best yoga retreats in Thailand that nourishes the body with fresh, organic foods, and evolves the soul with daily Hatha practice and mediation. Enjoy a luxurious Thai massage atop the cliffside overlooking the peaceful sea. Stay in one of their bright, airy beach bungalows, an ocean room, or in one of their “yoga caves”. Practice meditation in the morning, yoga in the afternoon and evening, and then wind down with a refreshing dip in their infinity pool. They also have a Sky Gym if you need to get your heart rate up.

With some of the best spaces to practice yoga in Thailand, the resort has three different shalas, all with amazing ocean views. With an understanding that every person is individual, their ethos is to work on personal growth while encouraging interconnectivity with likeminded people. We can contribute to a better world through being compassionately part of it, not against it. There are several different types of retreats throughout the year, head to their website to find out which one works for you.

Location: Koh Samui, Thailand
Price: From 100$/night.

2. The Sanctuary Thailand

sanctuary thailand yoga teacher training

The Sanctuary is located on one Thailand’s best beaches (in my opinion). After traveling around to several locations, I found Haad Tien to be just the right balance of secluded, and social. The water was calm, the view stunning. The Sanctuary alone can take your breath away. Hammocks hang around the restaurant that’s right on the beach that serves a variety of different healthy eating options. Their desserts are to die for, and they even have a fresh juice bar — definitely one of my favorite places to sit on a pouf and enjoy great food with a view.

One reason they have such deliciously healthy foods is that The Sanctuary also runs Yoga Detox retreats. Detoxers are welcome to stay in their clean, air-conditioned villas (the suites are pure luxury!) or opt for a traditional Thai-styled bungalow. A specific menu is then provided as you undergo an intense, and effective cleanse. The Sanctuary’s various retreats are hosted by an array of teachers from around the world, which differ in length, style, and purpose. It’s never too hard to find one that will suit your needs. If you are staying at the resort, they offer three classes a day- Vinyasa, Slow Flow, and Yin. They also provide Cacao Ceremonies, tarot card readings, and movies every now and then. The Sanctuary is by far one of the most cleansing, relaxing, and entertaining places you can visit.

Absolute. Paradise. Sitting grandly atop a hill overlooking the sea, this award-winning retreat that offers some of the most excellent amenities you can find. There are two yoga studios, five hydrotherapy tanks, steam room, infrared sauna, fitness studio, library, spa treatments with indoor/outdoor massages, and an infinity pool you can swim up to a floating juice bar in. Need I say more? This is the type of place you go to treat yourself, to completely reset and allow yourself to appreciate life. Along with juice, it has an incredible restaurant featuring healthy cuisine that looks like it should be served in a fine-dining establishment.

Unlimited yoga classes range from beginners to advanced, and they also hold several different retreats and challenges that you can choose from, varying in length and price. The rooms they offer are bright but calm, clean and air-conditioned, each one with a terrace and a world-class view. True to its name, it is indeed a magnificent place to unwind.

Pure Flow Yoga provides up to two weeks of relaxation and rejuvenation, meant to heal the body and mind. Connect with your breath in the morning, and wind down in the afternoon with some Hatha, Yin, or Restorative yoga. Koh Phangan has some of Thailand’s best cuisines, so you are encouraged you to go out and try what the island has to offer instead of providing their own restaurant. Located between two of my absolute favorite beaches, Haad Yuan and Haad Tien, this uniquely placed, jungle immersive retreat can truly provide the best of both ocean and jungle.

Here you will embrace YOU – your personal practice, your mental health, your spiritual journey. They want you to leave with the tools to build your own practice and find a yogic flow in your every day life. About Haley Walrath

Haley received her 200-hr RYT from All Yoga Thailand in May 2018. She went to college for English and Creative Writing, where she was an editor for the Painted Cave Literary Magazine. She then followed another of her passions and went to Culinary school to pursue a life working with food. After working at several restaurants, she found kitchen life to be an overly competitive and toxic environment. Haley decided to leave professional cooking behind to go after the one thing that had always been there for her when life got dark- yoga. For several years she found inner peace and purpose on her mat. After starting a blog called Struggle With Haley (a self-care blog that aimed to help other women feel less alone on their journeys to health and happiness), she decided to attend yoga training in Thailand. Haley now hopes to combine her loves of writing, cooking, traveling, and yoga into a new blog- eventually teaching yoga online while she travels the world.
