Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to travel to Portugal?

Portugal is ranked as the 3rd safest country in the world by the Global Peace Index. That means that Portugal is a safe place to visit—although, like in many destinations, there remains a risk of petty crime (like pickpocketing). In terms of Covid-19, we are following the guidelines from the Portuguese government to make sure our students are safe.

I am a first-time solo traveler, what should I be aware of in Portugal?

Generally, solo male and female travellers are going to be safe in Portugal. It's an amazingly fun place to travel around, but as long as you remember that in some parts it's not as liberal as you might like it to be and that weirdos exist everywhere in the world – you will be fine. It's all about travelling smart.

I am vegan/vegetarian, what can I eat in Portugal?

Portuguese cuisine is heavily based on meat and fish, so at a smashing majority of typical Portuguese restaurants the menu is comprised of non-vegan dishes. In most touristic places such as Ericeira though you'll find restaurants offering a vegan and vegetarian friendly option.

Is food/accommodation expensive in Portugal?

Budget accommodation is cheap and plentiful in most of the country's most appealing destinations and eating and drinking is also great value by the standards of Western Europe.

Do I need a visa to enter Portugal?

Visas are required by all for stays of up to 90 days, except for:

  • The European Union nationals listed above.
  • Nationals of Andorra, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Hungary, Israel, Korea (Rep. of), Lithuania, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Poland, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay, Vatican City, and Venezuela.

Please check the Portuguese Immigration website for more detailed information.

How much money should I bring?

How much money you should bring depends on your spending habits. In general, most people can live basically in Portugal for under EUR 40/day . However, expect to spend more if you intend on doing some shopping, massages, and indulging in food and drinks.

How is the internet connection in Portugal?

Portugal is well connected with reliable Wi-Fi in most hotels, hostels and cafes. There's free wifi at our Olive3 centre in Ericeira.

What about travel insurance?

Travel insurance from a trusted company that covers theft, loss and medical is highly advised. Make sure to check that your package also covers sport related injuries. If you are travelling on, many insurance providers offer longer backpacker packages at cheaper rates.

What should I make sure to bring with me?

You will be practicing yoga six days a week, so make sure to bring enough comfortable options. But no need to over pack, there are laundry services where you can get your clothes washed.

It is advised to pack light, breathable clothing, but as we are in a coastal town it can get windy and chilly in the evening. So bring some warm clothes as well.

There are convenience stores and pharmacies that sell toiletries, sunscreen, insect repellent and over the counter medicines. But it is recommended to come prepared, especially if you have particular requirements.

Can my partner/family join me if he/she is not attending the course?

Yes, friends, family and partners are welcome. There is plenty of accommodation in Ericeira suitable for couples and larger groups. On course days, friends and/or family can enjoy the activities and explore the area.

David Lertsin

Born from a Thai father and a French mother, David grew up with a cross-cultural understanding that combined the best from both East and West. He was able to manifest in himself a bridge between Asian spirituality with the rationality and freedom of thoughts from European philosophy.

Since childhood, David’s interest in the Orient has been reflected in his dedication to martial arts. His expressive power was balanced through early initiation to Zen meditation under Zen masters, and later into silent meditation of the Vipassana practice. He earned his black belts in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu by the age of 20, and began teaching these disciplines soon after as his teacher’s assistant.

The following step from martial arts to Yoga was very natural. He was introduced to Yoga at the age of 21 and immediately knew this practice would be the perfect complement to his Spiritual journey.

Trained by the late renowned Yoga teacher Larry Schultz, he soon gained recognition and become Larry’s partner for his entry into Asia.

David not only practice yoga for the healing aspect but also as a moving meditation reaching higher stage of Inner Silence and insight. His Vinyasa Rocket classes are dynamic and grounded in a natural flow, helping students to grow in their practice and building in them more confidence, strength, and mindfulness on and off the mat.

David is a very inspiring teacher and his personalized style based on his background is the perfect way to let go of tensions and go deeper into a practice that will bring joy, happiness, compassion and a deeper understanding of the True Self.
