Module 2: Tantra Mandala

25 Oct 2019 – 29 Oct 2019
FROM 1950

Course Details

This is how we will open the gate of our physical layer. The practice works towards a firm intention, such as chakra/ element/ group of muscles, following the main stucture of Ashtanga Vinyasa. The intention of the course is directed towards our first four energy centers, which represents the surrendering of the ego identity to “a being of trust”. These four chakras relate to the corresponding 4 elements of Shamanism according to Mexica Tradition. The magic will be accessed through a Mandala Vinyasa Flow, each based on the 4 main groups of the leg muscles.

  • Sun Salutes / Warm Up: done in a spiraling way around the mat, this is a preparation of the group of the muscles which will be observed.
  • Standing / Seated: vinyasas of poses that continue massaging the group of muscles, here deeper contemplation will be reached.
  • Closing Sequences: maximum contemplation and the sealing of energy through different methods.

The Methodology behind each sequence including its intention, will be described in detail in the Methodology sections.

Meet the Teacher:

Dulce Aguilar

Tantra Mandala Teacher Dulce Aguilar

Her teachings are guided to encourage a road of self-responsibility where you are able to follow the guru that resides inside your heart.

Module 3: Rocket & Patterns

01 Nov 2019 – 11 Nov 2019
FROM 2150

Course Details

The Rocket Yoga system is designed to invigorate the nervous system through the use of fast-paced sequences, incorporating arm balances, inversions and fluid transitions. The sequences develop strength, openness, progression and freedom. As with traditional Ashtanga, Rocket maintains a focus on the foundations of Ujjayi breath control and the engagement of the bandhas, as well as a steadiness of gaze and a serpentine vinyasa flow. The practice still holds the intelligence and therapeutic nature of the original format yet also brings variety and an increased sense of creativity, lifting your personal practice to new heights.
As part of this module, pattern work (self knowledge method) will also be introduced. See details below.

Advanced Program Components

General program sections and focus areas will include the following:
  • Breathing
  • Forward and backward bends
  • Scripting techniques
  • Adjustments
  • Practice drills
  • 140 Ashtanga postures in the Rocket system sequenced in days of the week.
  • Abdominal strength and control, full body strengthening including hand, wrist, shoulder, and back development.
  • Stacking methods for inversions
  • Drishti (the integration of focus into your practice).

Learning the “Mechanics of Flight”

Learning to fly is made possible by combining multiple aspects, that when put together allow you to move and maintain a sense of levitation or flight in your practice. Practicing “light” is the ability to move fluidly through the vinyasa, and in sections requiring you to balance on your hands, while your feet are off the ground

    Areas covered include:
  • Weight Transfer into the hands
  • Floating back and forward
  • Inversions and handstands from standing postures
  • Arm balances and inversions from seated positions
  • Creating fluid movement throughout you practice
  • Floating with control vs. ballistics
Balancing on your hands has many invigorating benefits. Some of the arm balancing and inversion techniques taught will include:
  • Headstands
  • Crow variations & transitions.
  • Elbow stands & Scorpions.
  • “Crazy eight” posture and transitions.
  • Handstands (multiple variations)
  • Peacock posture

Pattern Work

Jamie and Dulce are proud to offer Pattern work with the Rocket Practice on this Upper Level Course, Module 1. The modality of Pattens is vey much inline with the famous Yoga Sutra 1.2 of Patanjali, “Yoga Chitta Vritti Nirodha”, whereby the yoga practice is described as the process of looking at a partterns of conditioning and works to bring it into context and understanding and ultimately its liberation (Moksha).

The Pattern work focuses on the imprinting of childhood core beliefs, emotions and behaviors from our parents and guides us though a process of awareness, expression, acceptance/ forgiveness and placement with a patten that serves us in a more authentic way.
